Confidence can be a great thing right up until reality decides to disagree with you. We’ve all had moments when we were absolutely certain something would work, only to find out almost immediately that we were very wrong. At least most of us have the good sense to keep those moments private.
The people in these photos were not quite so lucky. They committed to their decisions with impressive confidence, only to have the results tell a very different story. Some mistakes were probably avoidable, while others seem to have required an almost unbelievable amount of optimism. Either way, the internet happened to be there at exactly the right time.
