Mountainous trees, enormous saws, and unrivaled physical endurance are all elements that serve to make up what it is to be a lumberjack. This couldn’t have rung more true than it did back in the 1900s. Tackling all that is required of one in the lumberjack profession requires uncompromising toughness and a willingness to stare danger in the face. We’ll take a look at some of the most intense photos of lumberjacks that we could find.

1. Portland, 1915.
