19 Notes From Landlords That Tenants Didn’t See Coming

Every now and again, a polite reminder about rent or trash pickup just isn’t enough. Some landlords will then proceed to go all in with their handwritten notices, passive-aggressive memos, or their rules that are so downright dramatic they might as well be in a sitcom. These varying examples of communication in the form of notes from landlords serve to show just how over the top things can truly get. They’re equal parts shocking, funny, and bizzare.

1. This landlord literally threatened a former tenant to try to get them to take down their accurate review.

A text exchange shows someone asking for a review to be removed in exchange for compensation. The other person refuses, saying it helps future tenants. The first person threatens to post a review at the other’s workplace.

2. This landlord took $100 off the security deposit because they had to change the lightbulb once.
