Last Updated on April 27, 2025 by Colby Droscher

Before sprawling paved highways stretched across the plains and mountainous skyscrapers blotted out the sky, the American West stood as a land of truly wide-open spaces. It also packed its fair share of grit and untamed beauty.

This collection of colorized, vintage photos aims to provide a lens to observe the raw spirit of frontier living as it was experienced back in the day.
